"Every BODY Can Dance" Project
Ryan Daniel Beck, a good friend and extremely talented dancer, choreographer and teacher has recently started a campaign for a new project that he is working on, the Every BODY Can Dance project. It is the idea that everyone CAN dance, no matter what their anatomical structure is (personally, I know I don't have a ballet body and I never will, however I love dancing ballet and other similar techniques). This project initially is a study of how different bodies can work with different styles and techniques of dance, and which of these different practices work best with the given body structures. Meaning, there is no body type that will be excluded from the world of dance. Once the research is done, the actual Every BODY Can Dance workshop will come to fruition in March 2012, open to the public and free to all who participate! I think this is a fantastic and refreshing idea, for everyone! Not only will it mean that dance is accessible to all, but people will not feel excluded out of the world of dance. Now don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean that everyone will become a professional dancer, it just means that maybe for most people who felt uncomfortable or apprehensive of even TRYING a dance class, now such a wonderful activity of movement, music & energy can be a part of their lives as well.
To support Ryan's project, please visit the Every BODY Can Dance Kickstarter page - donations start as little as $1, and the campaign is ending Tuesday, September 27th, 2011. If you feel inspired, please support today!
